What type of taxes must be paid when selling real estate in Panama?

A tax of 2% is paid on the transfer of real estate, and 3% on capital gains.

How long does a buying and selling process take?

The usual is 3 months, that is, 90 days, however the parties could agree to other times, shorter or longer according to what is convenient for them.

What are the obligations of the parties in the real estate purchase and sale processes?

For the seller it will be: the preparation of the promise of sale, the payment of 2% and 3%, good stading certificate of the real estate tax, good standing ertificate of IDAAN, good standing certificate of garbage fee, good standing certificate of cuota maintenance for the P.H., the minutes of the shareholders meeting for cases where there are corporations.

For the buyer: All expenses related to the preparation of the public deed, notarial rights, and stamps and their registration in the Public Registry of Panama.

Each party will pay their attorney separately.
